Positive Reviews

Simple but more than adequate hostel lodgings.

Most visitors agreed this establishment was pretty basic. However, there was praise for the private rooms offering added comfort and privacy. Some reviewers said the rooms in general were more than adequately clean. Visitors appreciated the well-equipped communal kitchen and on-site shop selling basic supplies like milk and toiletries. The laundry facilities were described as good but there was an additional fee for using them.

Good value for money.

Many guests found the accommodation rates very competitive. There were also added perks for those on a budget like a free Sunday dinner and enjoying the seventh night of your stay for free.

Relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff.

Most reviewers had praise for the staff, some of whom were themselves backpackers. Some guests appreciated the easy-going and relaxed vibe.

Negative Reviews

Five flights of stairs to tackle.

One opinion shared by most guests was that the lack of an elevator was a real bind, especially if you’re carrying heavy luggage. Some guests counted there were 77 steps to climb in order to reach reception.

Rooms had shortcomings.

There were occasional reports of unsatisfactorily cleaned linens and some guests thought the facilities and rooms didn’t compare that well with those in other backpackers’ hostels they had experienced. A degree of background street noise is perhaps to be expected in a city center, but some reviewers who were light sleepers felt the rooms were exposed to too much traffic noise and noise from nearby bars at the weekends.

Some criticism of the basics.

Sometimes out of order showers or the lack of curtains in the rooms bothered reviewers. Security measures could have been tighter according to some guests.
