Positive Reviews

Great Location

The hostel is located in a central area in Kyoto and is walking distance from metro and train stations. Guests were also walking distance from the Gion neighbourhood and various temples. There were also many restaurants and bars within a close distance.

Friendly Staff

The staff was found to be friendly during the check in and check out process, and to give great information of the area. They would also help with guest requests and handle their concerns in a timely manner. They also provide for maps.

Nice Common Areas

Guests enjoyed the Japanese common areas in the hostel which had tatami floors and a flat-screen TV. The common kitchen was also a nice place to cook your own dishes if you chose to. Guests enjoyed spending time in these areas, as well as the rooftop terrace.

Negative Reviews

No In-Room Wi-Fi

Guests had a hard time connecting to the Internet from their rooms. They had to go to the common area or use the guest computers. They would have preferred to use their own devices in the rooms.

Thin Walls

Guests found that if they had loud neighbours or loud fellow guests, they were not able to sleep. The walls are too thin and they could clearly hear the voices from other guests.

Musty and Dark

Guests felt that the rooms were smelly and musty. They also would have liked for more natural light to come in the rooms instead of having a darkness throughout. The corridors also had a musty smell.
