Positive Reviews

Great location right on the river

Guests loved the location for a couple of reasons. Firstly, being right on the river meant that they could enjoy fantastic views over the water, Secondly, the hotel was so centrally situated that it was just a short walk to most of Malacca’s historic attractions.

Impressive ultra-chic design

The hotel is housed in a UNESCO protected heritage building, but has been thoroughly renovated inside. The look was described by both the hotel and guests as “industrial”. It was clearly a big hit, with guests concluding that they were staying in a very stylish and trendy hotel.

Friendly staff

Guests were generally satisfied with the service and attitude displayed by the staff here. They were said to be friendly and willing to help where they could.

Negative Reviews

River facing rooms can be noisy

Guests explained that the river facing rooms weren’t directly on the river, but had a public boardwalk between them and the water. This was quite busy, especially during the day, when people would come down to walk along the river. Guests reported that the noise from passers by could be heard in the rooms just above.

Problems with mosquitoes

The hotel is next to the river, and guests reported that there was a relatively serious mosquito problem in the immediate area. Guests in rooms facing the river said they were especially prone to being bitten by mosquitoes.

Poor breakfast

Guests weren’t very impressed with the hotel’s breakfast, saying it was much too meagre and plain to generate any sort of enthusiasm first thing in the morning.
