Positive Reviews

Fantastic Location

The hotel is in the heart of the action in Sydney's Rocks, a stones throw from the Opera House and Circular Quay and it also only a short walk to Sydney's premier shopping area. The proximity to these and other attractions around Sydney featured prominently across reviews.

Buckets of Character

The hotel is connected to some of the oldest and most authentic buildings in Sydney's Rocks area and oozes history of the pioneering days in Sydney and a number of people mentioned in their reviews that if you want to stay somewhere a little different with loads of character than this was the place.

Helpful and Friendly staff

The service received by guests on arrival during check-in and during breakfast service rated highly across a number of reviews with many saying that this was the best aspect of their stay at the hotel.

Negative Reviews

No Air-Conditioning

A number of guests have expressed their horror at arriving into central Sydney on a hot summers day only to find that there was no air-conditioning in their rooms. Needless to the say the reviews were not at all complimentary with the provided ceiling fans doing little to ease the oppressive summer heat. Some superior rooms only have air-conditioning.

Super Noisy Hotel

The hotel is in the middle of Sydney's Rocks which is a popular night spot and a number of guests complained about the noise from late night and early morning revellers. The hotel is also above a pub were noise carried to the rooms and throughout the hotel.

Needs an Overhaul

A number of people who stayed at the hotel thought that although it was very central, that for the price paid for the room they felt that it was very expensive for what was provided, which was a basic room with limited amenity and poorly designed space.
